    Erin Taylor OD
    Dr. Taylor sees patients in Amarillo and Dumas

    Dr. Taylor completed her undergraduate degree in her home state of Wyoming before venturing to Oregon to complete her doctorate degree at Pacific University College of Optometry.

    Dr. Taylor then made her way to the Texas Panhandle in 2008 to complete a residency at the VA hospital in Amarillo specializing in Ocular Disease. She made her home in Amarillo after meeting her husband Dustin, an Amarillo native.

    Once an avid runner competing in marathons, she now spends her time running after her four young boys, Lane, Rhett, Beau, and Ford. Her family lives passionately for God and is very involved with their church family at Trinity Fellowship.

    Working with Advanced Eye Care, Dr. Taylor feels as though she’s met the best of both worlds, adequate time to spend with her family along with unconditional care for her patients. She’s excited to join Advanced Eye Care’s team of doctors and staff who can help her provide the best possible care for her patients. Dr. Taylor deeply cares for her patients and those she works with and treats them like an extension of her family.

    Jack C. Thomas OD, FAAO
    Dr. Thomas sees patients in Amarillo and Dumas

    Kind and knowledgeable, Dr. Thomas always has a way of putting his patients at ease.  He returned to the Texas Panhandle to join the practice at Advanced Eye Care after completing his training at the University of Houston and Eye Center of Texas.  His interests include specialty contact lenses for irregular and diseased corneas, including keratoconus.  He is residency trained in ocular disease and is an optometric glaucoma specialist.  He sees patients of all ages, including infants and young children.  Outside of the office, Dr. Thomas enjoys photography, mountain sports, and spending time with his wife Vanessa and daughters Ruby and Piper.  He also serves as chairman of the Amarillo Children's Home Board of Trustees.

    Brandon W. Dabney OD
    Dr. Dabney sees patients in Amarillo and Dumas

    Open, friendly, and full of enthusiasm, Dr. Dabney enjoys a good challenge as well as working with people. He enjoys seeing patients in both the Amarillo and Dumas locations. Dr. Dabney is a gifted clinician who excels at explaining medical problems so patients may have the best understanding of their condition. Born and raised here in the Panhandle, Brandon enjoys hiking, mountain biking, and traveling with his daughter, Ava.

    Dr. Appel sees patients in Amarillo, Canyon, and Hereford

    Easy-going and congenial, Kevin Appel is a skilled clinician and communicator. He is a man dedicated to knowledge that clearly translates to his patient care. Born in Dumas, Texas, he is an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman. He and his wife, Carin, are also runners, and have competed in several half marathons. Kevin and Carin, a physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, live in Canyon, TX. They have two children, Aleah and Reade.

    Dr. Thompson sees patients in Amarillo - Special interest in pediatrics

    Dr. Thompson is a gentle doctor who is devoted to providing unconditional care for her patients. From children to parents and grandparents, Dr. Thompson provides wonderful care to everyone in your family. A passion of hers is caring for infants and children who have challenges with vision related disorders along with providing opportunities for young children with vision-related learning issues through vision therapy. Dr. Thompson routinely gives programs to educators, healthcare groups, and parents to raise awareness of how vision problems impact successful learning. As mother of three and wife to Jerry Don, she can be found playing with the family riding horses, fishing, skiing, and volunteering at Sleepy Hollow Elementary. She also spends countless hours championing Juvenile Diabetes research.

    Vanessa R. Anderson OD
    Dr. Anderson sees patients in Amarillo

    Dr. Anderson is a gifted and friendly doctor with enormous energy serving her patient base in the Amarillo office. She loves seeing patients of all ages, and especially enjoys the challenge of the “hard to fit” contact lens patient. In addition to her practice of Optometry, she is a mother of two and pastor’s wife. She enjoys xeriscape landscaping, writing, photography, and traveling to new and interesting places. “The Road Not Taken”, by Robert Frost has inspired her to live each day to the fullest and to always relish in the trip as much as the destination. As an avid foodie, and lover of off-the-beaten-path restaurants, she is always on the lookout for her next “favorite” restaurant. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Wayland Baptist University and Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry.

    Steve Cowan OD
    Dr. Cowan sees patients in Amarillo

    Dr. Cowan is a friendly doctor with a keen sense of humor. He spends time doing community work by seeing diabetic patients at J.O. Wyatt Clinic and volunteering his time to help with Habitat for Humanity projects. When he is not in the Amarillo clinic seeing patients, Dr. Cowan and his wife LuLu enjoy gardening, travel and outdoor activities, but most of all being with their children and four grandsons and one granddaughter.

    Lauren A. Salazar OD
    Dr. Salazar sees patients in Canyon and Hereford

    Raised in Amarillo, Dr. Salazar returned to the area to join the Advanced Eye Care team after graduating from the University of Houston College of Optometry.  She knew she wanted to become a doctor since she was a child, and later realized that optometry was the perfect fit for her. Getting to know her patients is one of her favorite aspects of being a doctor, and doing this while protecting their vision makes her job even more enjoyable. Dr. Salazar’s goal is to treat each patient as if they were a member of her family. She is passionate about ocular disease and ensures her patients are treated with the best advancements in the field of optometry.

    Dr. Salazar is an avid runner who regularly participates in local and national races.  She is newly married to Navy veteran, Santiago. Their shared passions include sports, traveling, volunteering, spending time with their boys, S.J. and Roman.  Dr. Salazar is active in her church and community. She especially enjoys being a board member for local nonprofits, One Chair at a Time and the Canyon Rotary.

    Heidi S. Hawkins OD
    Dr. Hawkins sees patients in Amarillo

    Dr. Hawkins has endless energy and compassion for children with special needs. She presents that same dynamic enthusiasm with her patients of all ages. People are genuinely happy when she enters the room. A third generation Optometrist, she is a down-to-earth doctor that treats every patient as if they are a member of her family. In addition to her optometric practice, she loves spending time with her wonderful husband and their two precious daughters. An avid runner, she regularly competes in half marathons. Yet, still finds the energy to volunteer her time screening school aged children at health fairs, examining infants free of charge as part of the InfantSee Program, and loves coaching her daughters in volleyball and basketball.

    Aaron Stephenson OD
    Dr. Stephenson sees patients in Canyon and Hereford

    Dr. Stephenson grew up in Lubbock, Texas surrounded by a loving and caring family.  Early in his life, he was influenced by the example of his father, Kenneth Stephenson, M.D., to pursue a career helping the medical needs of others.  During high school, Dr. Stephenson participated and excelled in academics and athletics. He then furthered his athletic career by playing basketball for Lubbock Christian University for 4 years.  It was during his time at LCU that he continued his success by being honored as “Mr. LCU” and making the Academic All-Conference basketball team.  It was also at LCU that he met his future wife, Amy, through their mutual involvement in LCU’s Student Athletic Advisory Committee and their science courses.  Dr. Stephenson graduated Magna Cum Laude at LCU with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.

    Dr. Stephenson went on to attend the University of Houston College of Optometry and received his Doctorate of Optometry in May of 2018.  After graduation, he chose to further his education by completing his Optometric Residency in ocular disease/pathology and pre/post operative care at the Eye Center of Texas in Houston.

    Shortly thereafter, Dr. Stephenson and his wife, Amy Stephenson, D.D.S, visited our town of Canyon and decided it felt like home.  In August of 2019, Amy began practicing with the Dental Group of Amarillo and will soon be practicing in the new Canyon office location.

    Dr. Stephenson and his wife have one daughter, Harper Cheyenne.  In his spare time, Dr. Stephenson enjoys any and all outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, horseback riding, hiking and snowboarding. While at home, Dr. Stephenson has taken up the art of leather work.

    Matthew P. Parker OD
    Dr. Parker sees patients in Amarillo and Dumas. - Special interest in pediatrics

    Dr. Parker was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina and completed his undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at East Carolina University. At ECU, he participated in epigenetics research, was the '12-'13 Tau Chapter President of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity, and served as a Resident Advisor. Dr. Parker then obtained his Doctorate of Optometry from New England College of Optometry in Boston.  His training and first five years of practice focused on pediatrics and eye disease.   His wife Magaly and son Fredy are local natives of Amarillo.  Dr. Parker has entrenched himself in the community by founding and serving as inaugural President of Panhandle Lacrosse Authority and by being involved with the young professional organization Elevate Amarillo.
